Balasangama took place on November 12th Sunday at 3 places. Children and parents came from 57 Balabharati  centers. Children, parents and prabandhaks together more than 2475 persons participated. Photos of the events can be viewed at the following links:

• Since the last update given in end of October, we have the following news to share.

• New Balabharati started in Pariwar Palace, Vijayabank layout, Arakere Khand

• New Balabharati started in Jayanagar 8th Block at Sri Rama Seva Mandali

• A session for grand parents was conducted by the residents of Meenakshi Classic apartment in HSR layout. Balabharati shikshikas played their role in organizing the program. Grand parents enjoyed the experience of interacting with all others in the apartment at the event specially conducted for them. They were also invited to visit the Balabharati activity and engage with the kids in imparting values. 

• Gita Jayanti was celebrated in a unique way at Royal Hermitage Balabharati. Kids were taught to sing shlokas of Bhakti Yoga. They had a special event inviting grand parents and parents where kids chanted the shlokas.

Balabharati Updates - Oct 2017

Updates from Balabharati team. 

• The 60th edition of Balabharati Magazine and corresponding Yojana for November 2017 is attached here with. Same is updated in the resources blog ( balbharati-resources.blogspot.in ) 

• Since the last update given in end of September, we have the following news to share.

• New BB center started in Siri Springs, Rajarajeshwari Nagar

• New BB started in Aditya Sayogene, GM Palya

• Meenakshi Classic ( HSR ) had a special Diwali celebration with their apartment housekeeping staff, security staff, plumber, Gardner, electrician, iron-wala, and people who picks up garbage from their apartment. With enthusiastic contribution and participation from residents, they distributed sweet boxes and other gifts for Diwali to them. They also played few Balabharati games with them such as Ram-Ravan, Namaste ji.

• There is enthusiasm all around for the Balasangama event on November 12th. Children are preparing for SKIT, Quiz, Geet competetions. Many centers are also preparing posters made by kids expressing the spirit of Balabharati. Parents are preparing for thematic Quiz. We are getting news of active participation from parents as well. News about the event and some photos will be posted soon after the program in the respective blogs. Hope to see all there.  The respective venue details are in the blogs. More specific inputs can be obtained from the shikshika team of our center or nearest Balabharati pramukh.

Special activity in last week of the month (as in September YOJANA) :  

We just had Ganesha festival. Many centers conducted clay Ganesha making activity also. It may be a good opportunity to ponder over the origin of Ganesha and the symbolism involved in this festival. Such discussions with kids helps them to understand the meaning behind the celebrations and also make them experience the effect at and individual level and social level. But for this to happen, parents shall have to make the effort to discuss such ideas with them and be the 'communicator'.  Through the special activity, let us try to bring this experience of learning from more elders in the apartment. Attached YOJANA second page has more details about this special activity. 

Highlights of the month  :

• New Balabharati started in SSVR apartment in Kundalahalli Khand

• New Balabharati started in Rohan Vasanta Apartment in Kundalahalli Khand

• New Balabharati started in Sai Garden layout in White field khand

• Making eco-friendly Ganesha out of clay by Kids was a special activity performed at many centers, Kethana Blossom, SMR Vinay Galaxy, Concorde Manhattan to name a few. 

• SV Brindavanam ( Panathur) kids performed a skit on Ganesha

• Concorde Manhattan apartment BB team had conducted a very special celebration of Ganesh Puja by having kids bring their hand made clay Ganesh and having a samoohik PUJA program for kids, with kid doing Puja to his/her Ganesh. The mantras were explained to them and the scientific meaning behind the rituals/celebration was also conveyed. 100+kids participated. Enthusiastic response from parents also. Gifts of Amar Chitra katha books sponsored by well wishers in the apartment. 

• Balabharati kids participated in Independence day celebrations by singing patriotic songs. Centers which shared news of I day celebration include Kethana Blossom ( Panathur) , NGV and ST Bed BB centers in Koramangala, HAL ( Tippasandra khand ) . Acas crescent BB Kids were dressed in costumes of Mahapurush personalities. 

• Gowri apartment ( RT Nagar Khand ) conducted Janmashtami with kids displaying coloring of Krishna pictures, dressed in costume of Krishna and also story telling on Krishnavatar by kids. ( http://balbharati-kids.blogspot.in/2017/08/blog-post.html ) 

• At Purva skywood apartment ( HSR Khand), Kids sang Bhajan of Govinda. Dressed as different devotees they walked on stage offering flowers to Krishna idol ... Devotee names and brief information written on charts were displaced one by one . Gau Puja and Krishna Puja were done .. Kids fed cows and calf . They did Q&A on Krishna ( why he is blue , why wears peacock feather ,why loves cows etc with inner meaning explained by older kids ). Kids conducted quiz to audience based on Krishna life. Rasalila group dance was done. Fund was also collected by kids dressed as Gopa gopis. 

• At Purva Skywood, for Ganesh chaturti, they did an event of telling Ganesha names with meanings by children while one child drew picture along . Shloka with meaning and dance was  done . Unique Puja by kids which had a mixture of Chitra lekan-Sloka-mantra -arth and nritya was done. 

• The craft activity NAMASTE cards was done with enthusiasm by kids of ST Bed Balabharati ( Koramangala ) 

• In addition to the above, the earlier weeks of August and late July saw some activities such as the following at our Balabharati centers.

• Concorde Manhattan ( E city ) conducted Yoga day special program for all house keeping staff and domestic help workers where in about 90 persons attended an hour long yoga session.Mothers of BB kids supported the program enthusiastically. 

• Royal Hermitage (Gottigere) team arranged a Gurupurnima celebration for BB kids in presence of all elders. Kids were explained about Guru-Shishya parampara. The program also had 'vandan' to teachers living in the layout.

• Sarovar BB kids did an activity of writing PRANAM on peepal leaf and giving to their parents who are the first Guru for kids.

• Rakshabandhan was celebrated in many centers, with mothers involved in teaching kids to make their own Raakhi (Raksha). SNN Niladri(E-city) , Klassic Benchmark (Gottigere), Malnad Residency (Uttarahalli) , Kethana Blssom (Panathur) have sent photos of Rakshabandhan festival celebration.

Balasangama 2017 will be conducted in 3 places in Bengaluru, one for each of the three prakhands ( Jayanagar Prakhand, Mahalakshmipuram prakhand and Tippasandra Prakhand ). The date for all is SUNDAY NOVEMBER 12th, Time:  8:30 am to 4:30 PM . We shall be receiving the flyers and guidelines for preparation in the coming days. Lets contact our shikshika team and Balabharati pramukhs and partcipate actively and have a rich collective experience of the process of "samskar for kids"

Swatantrata Diwas Celebration at NGV Bal Bharati

NGV and ST bed both Bal Bharati celebrated Swatantrata diwas in NGV park on 15th of August with the help of NGV IT Milan. 

Rain has broken all the records 14th and 15th night and left Bangalore with water logging in all over the area, Celebration of Swatantrata Diwas shifted from ST BED to NGV Park.

It was a great event which started with flag hosting followed by Rashtra Gaan. During the celebration we discussed about the significance of Tri colour, how British came to India and occupied our lands, and also discussed about how we got the freedom and freedom fighters followed by Sweets distribution and good Kabbadi match.

71st Independence day celebration@ HAL Bal Bharati

HAL Bal Bharati celebrated Independence Day with full enthusiasm and great determination from 30 children. Apart from flag hoisting, group singing competition solely on Bal Bharati Geets was organised. Many exciting dance performances and nice speeches were delivered by children. All these performances were prepared and executed solely by children themselves. After the function, Feri (Procession ) was also done within HAL township area. It was a wonderful experience and many people appreciated the efforts.

Special activity in last week of the month (as in August YOJANA) :  

The special activity of August is how helping kids to experience the relationship with neighbours and know what role our neighbours play in our life? How they share our happy moments and not so happy moments?  Shikshikas shall introduce the topic may also wants to talk about interesting things in our BB neighbourhood, like gardens, any famous temple, statue, personality, market etc. Parents shall be invited and  BB kids can make a craft Namaste Ji cards (2-10) from this months magazine, try and visit our neighbours, greet them with Namaste, give them our beautiful card, introduce yourself, and also invite them to our BB. Kids can note down in a diary, their experience of meeting neighbour’s and narrate them in the special BB. Kids can have a healthy competition between them to visit as many neighbour’s as possible. Please encourage parents also to share their feeling about this activity, how kids prepared and how they felt after meeting/greeting their neighbours. Let’s remember to give more curiosity than the knowledge/Information to our kids!

It can be made as a game also by asking kids to tell how many neighbours they greeted and said Namaste, and kids should be able to tell about them ( a simple INTRO) to other kids, like, telling a good thing about them, or a skill that they have which they can teach to all kids. 

News and events:   

• New Balabharati has started in Rainbow drive layout on Sarjapur road ( HSR Khand ) 

• Concorde Manhattan BB team with active support from welfare association and Balabharati well wishers conducted a special Yoga session for domestic help persons ( maids)  and house keeping staff. Many Balabharati kids' parents, particularly mothers, actively involved in organizing the event. Yoga session was conducted with 90+ persons participating. Stationary and snacks were distributed by mothers to all the participants.

• Acas Crescent BB in Gottigere has been regularly making use of the FUN science activity to inculcate scientific temper in kids. Once in a while they involve the elder class girls in the apartment to demonstrate science experiment to kids. It could be a way to generate interest in them to have a separate activity for kishoris ( teenage girls ) also. 

• Royal hermitage BB in Arakere Khand ( Gottigere ) conducted a special Gurupurnima celebration. Few teachers and all parents were invited. There was a chart/picture demonstration and explanation by shikshika of various Guru/Shishya mahapurush personalities like Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda.  

• Craft activity is regularly conducted in Sarovar Balabharati. 

• SNN Niladri BB and Concorde BB in EC Khand conducted Raakhi ( Rakshe ) making activity for Balabharati kids.

Special activity in last week of the month ( July ) :  

For June, the special activity conducted in the last week of the month is about RIVERS. Elders from the apartment can be called to narrate to the children their experience with life in village, their association with Rivers, how we worship and care for them. They can teach the shloka "Gange cha yamune chai va" to kids. Persons from different states can be called so that children can listen about multiple rivers. 

News and events from centers:   

• New Balabharati has started in Alpine Eco apartment, Doddanekkundi ( Near Maratahalli) Kundalahalli Khand

• New Balabharati started in Saptagiri apartment, Munnekolala, Kundalahalli khand 

• NGV and ST Bed BB of Koramangala had arranged a trip ( sahal ) to Lalbagh. 9 families participated. Several toher families who were watching the Balabharati kids play came and enquired and joined the group, learnt about Balabharati and showed interest to involve.

• The shikshika teams meetings were held at 3 places in the city on July 1/2 week end. Over 90 shikshikas and several shikshaks and supporting karyakartas participated. All centers shared their experiences, and also challenges and ways to overcome them and strengthen  the Balabharati process. 

• In the shikshika teams baithak, many shikshikas shared experience of conducting summer camps.  Prior to that, around the month of March 2017, we had sent an email asking shikshikas and parents to share suggestions and ideas for summer camp. The ideas collected and the ideas implemented by shikshikas in few Balabharatis are compiled in the attached excel sheet. There are about 50 activities that came up, which can be conducted by parents and neighbours themselves for kids. We can continue to think in these lines for upcoming vacation periods, particularly summer of 2018.

Correction:  In June magazine, Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi's punyatithi year got printed as 1958 instead of 1858. Error is regretted.

Opening doors to values through BalaBharati

We did a special activity in Sarovar BalaBharati called-'Open doors to values through BalaBharati' and asked the children to share what they are learning in BalaBharati.They wrote their feelings in chits and put them in the value box. We will continue this till Balasangama event and open the door and see how much they have learnt.One of the girl suggested shikshika's to make their own box of values learnt through BalaBharati.
