Children guided by parents took up the task of making Ganesha idol. Right Clay for the purpose was obtained and the first major work began. Curious kids of DJRC had a memorable time in the process.

Chote Kisan

The most important resources for all of us are Air, Water, Food and Nature that provides them to us. Making children aware of them, is not just important but also necessary.  There is no better way than learning by experience. With that in mind the Balabharati team at DJRC decided to introduce children to farming and effort it takes to  grow food that comes to our tables.

It was decided to grow vegetables in the neighborhood and Children were involved in all the activities - preparing the ground, tilling, manuring,  sowing seeds, watering regularly, taking out weeds.
Children although excited in this Journey, started realising it not very easy to grow food. It takes lot of hard work and patience to cultivate and understand its importance, which otherwise is taken for granted. When by the time first round of produce was ready, they were not just happy but also appreciative of the efforts. It will also make them sensitive to not waste food.

This will continue, from the produce, they will sell it to the residents, buy seeds and manure and go
for another round.

Sankranti, Kite flying at DJRC - Jan 2017

Parents and Children of DJRC Balabharati had a wonderful time organizing and flying kites during the Sankranti festival in Jan 2017. When the discussions started about the event, it created an excitement as parents were again indulging in their childhood favorite activity and also share that experience with the Children.  Balabharati kids started the preparations - with some making their kites, some shopping, learning the skill to tie knots (Kanna). The journey to the event was also as funfilled as the event itself. All the safety precautions were  taken care of.

On the designated day of 14th Jan 2017, everyone assembled, indulged in final preparations and started launching respective kites. Few experts among the parents were guiding the novices and rest.
As the kites started soaring high all the eyes were gazing upwards. Children took turns to learn handling, maneuvering and stabilizing the kites. This was not just an unique experience for many children, but also a great fun. They would not want to stop and were at it for hours. Balabharati's encourage many such outdoor activities.
